Lift, Sir?
Examiner of Plays' Summary:
This is the sketch of a French girl filling, as a kind of war job, the post of lift-attendant at some London flats. It most of it consists of the banter between the sprightly damsel and the porter of the flats, one of which has been recently occupied by the girl's sister, a widow with whom another tenant, a young English officer, is anxious to scrape acquaintance. This he attempts by engineering a sham air-raid: and the playlet ends abruptly with the thrusting of a dummy shell through the lady's wall. There is not much point in the action; but the dialogue is bright, and the whole thing is free from offence. Recommended for Licence. Ernest A. Bendall
