Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A melodrama of the stereotyped childish sort. The villain presents the heroine and the female villain the hero with their respective addresses. The heroine is suspected of a theft really committed by her father. The female villain marries the hero's father, makes advances to the hero and on his indignant refusal denounces him a la Mrs Potifphar. (This would be suspect in a serious Play, but here it is merely common melodramatic form, and is inoffensive in its presentment.) The hero's father discovers how he has been deceived, and is stabbed by the villainess; he recovers and the villain shoots her by mistake. There is nothing especially offensive in the rubbish. Recommended for licence. G. S. Street.
