Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a Scotch Revue, full of Scotch humour, of a sort, and of the romping kind, quite free from sexual suggestiveness. There is a skeleton of a plot, concerning the giving by mistake of a pair of shoes to a charwoman, 'Bauchles'. The shoes had been meant as a present for a young lady and contained diamonds in the heel. They are consequently hunted for - the charwoman having sold them to a shoemaker, the shoemaker to a customer, and so on. There are scenes of a shoemaker's shop, a cinema theatre, a sale room, a fair at Cupar and so on. Eventually Bauchles finds them and gets the reward. The songs are all given and are harmless. I have marked scene 1, p.7 a passage about a man's feet smelling, but this is only a question of taste, and as the piece is quite harmless I do not know that the joke matters - it may be good taste in Kilmarnock.
