Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

[...] The late sir Henry Burnham unfortunately did not marry his wife, Ruth, for some time after they lived together, having a lunatic wife already. On the latter's demise he married Ruth but kept the certificate concealed behind a photograph and told nobody where it was. So on his death the villain James turned Ruth and her son Frank out of doors and proceeded to various misdeeds, as stunning Ruth with a poker and rendering her dumb, getting Frank sent to sea on a rotten ship, having evil designs on Franks love, Elsie and so forth. But Elsie goes with frank in the shower akdnafgerntjeubarearriednim Spain they are wrecked on an island where a second villain also has designs on Elsie, which are defeated by females recovering his lost reason. A second shock to Ruth restores her speech, "as the doctor foretold," the certificate was discovered and all was well. There is no harm in the rubbish. I do not think the name Burnham is worth bothering about, as nobody will hear of the piece and after all its not Lord Burnham's family name. Recommended for Licence. G. S. Street
