Harold Batt may be the Harold Batt who is shown on the 1911 census as aged 30 [sic] and born in Rock Ferry, Cheshire, unmarried, an actor, living alone at 31 Vassall Road, Brixton, S.W. If so, his birth was registered as Arthur Harold Batt at Birkenhead, which included parts of Cheshire, in April-June 1882. The 1891 census shows Arthur H. Batt, aged 8 and born in Rock Ferry, Cheshire, living at 56 Hamilton Square, Birkenhead, with his mother who was a teacher of calisthenics. The 1901 census shows Arthur H. Batt, aged 18 and born in Rock Ferry, unmarried, the director(?) of a dancing school, a visitor in the household of a jeweller and pawnbroker at Moreton-cum-Lingham, the Wirral, Cheshire. He may also be the Harrold Batt who produced several musical revues later in the war.
