Indian Plays In Oxford. Oxford on Tuesday had the opportunity of witnessing a performance of the Indian poet. Rabindranath Tagore’s two plays, “Chitra” and “Sacrifice,” which have been given such an enthusiastic reception in London … Those who know anything of the poet’s works need not be told that the plays were creations of exquisite beauty and wonderful reality, dramatic and fantastic. The artistes played with such depth of feeling that .one would not wish to mar the beauty and reality of the dramas by making any distinction between them as actors and actresses. Frederic Sargent, as Raghupati, the priest, gave a study that was a masterpiece of histrionic art and raised the whole performance out of the commonplace’.
