Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a burlesque of the musical comedy type, with an inconsequent plot opening on the Thames Embankment where its 'dossing' hero is presented in a dream with a wishing-stone which takes him wherever he desire. Under the magic guidance of a certain 'Oskar' from ‘kismet’, who subsequently figures as Tree, leader of a concert-party, he betakes himself to Henley to Japan and to other favourite revue-haunts in search of a Princess, with whom in his vision he has fallen in love. Before he finds her there are provided opportunities for various topical ditties, dances and so forth, and for a recitation. This last (act III, page 7) called 'The Day' should be forwarded for approval. Recommended for license. Ernest A. Bendall
