Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A recruiting play. Gerald, a young sculptor, is dissatisfied with a statue of Victory he has done. Marianne, a Frenchwoman with whom he is in love, tells him the reason is that it is the idea of a boy, not a man, and that he will only see things as a man if he enlists. She also tells him she loves him, drapes herself in the French flag and recites the Marseillaise. Gerald goes out and enlists. His tardiness is not complimentary to artists but the little play should be effective. Recommended for license. G. S. Street
