Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a sketch of the trapping of a sham Belgian refugee in the Scotch country-house which is giving him shelter. In the absence of the master and mistress the refugee is making ready for a sudden flitting, when Jeannie the cook is run up by her policeman-sweetheart who informs her that she is harbouring a German spy, whom she is to detain by any blandishments that she can think of until an arrest can be effected. The fun of the trifle is found in the worthy Scotchwoman's more or less successful efforts to imitate the emotional adventuress of melodrama and turn herself into a 'languisher' or 'Circe of to-da'. Harmlessly amusing and Recommended for license Ernest A. Bendall.
