Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

Nearly all of this revue is the same as in its original form, though there may be some change in the jokes. It opens in a restaurant with a comic and mock-waiter, Alick, and some quite innocent silliness about a man taking out another man's girl to dinner. The main scene is the Ladies Fire Brigade with Alick and another comedian, George, mistaken for two doctors who are to examine the Brigade and refute a charge of drinking. This they do by kissing them in turn, with business of trying to escape an ugly one [...] As I remarked originally, this is not indecent so far as the dialogue and stage directions go, and though it obviously might lend itself to offensive business and is anyhow unpleasant it can hardly be cut out as it stands. The rest is mere comic dialogue with a new little silly scene with a conjuror. Recommended for License G. S. Street.
