Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

Most of this production consists of a wilderness of duologues, or 'gag' scenes which have been sent in later. The chief characters are two funny men, Alick and George, who discourse like the 'Two Macs' about all sorts of matters. Then there is a scene of husband and wife quarrelling, a man with a dog etc., and a more elaborate business of a cafe with a comic waiter. Scene 5 is longer and has for its idea a female fire brigade. The members have been accused of drinking and call in doctors to disprove it: Alick and George appear and kiss them all in turn pp. 6 seq. This silly business might be made offensive but can hardly be censored as it stands. Then Alick and George are dressed up as women, but nothing unseemly is indicated. The last is a 'cottage scene' with a young recruit going to the war. So far as I can see this ought to be a harmless production, though of course it may turn out otherwise. Recommended for License.
