The programme for the first night (VAM, Oxford, as a theatre, files) indicated that the first act was set in the Captain's salon on board the Cruiser 'ALMA' on 1 August 1914, whilst the final act was set in the Hall of the War Council one month later. The play was 'produced under the personal direction of Michael Morton' and the 'Naval details have been kindly supervised by a French Naval Officer'. The production went on beyond 8 Jan 1919.
