Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a children's musical and pantomimic extravaganza, imagined and written with welcome refinement. Its fanciful story has for its heroine a little girl whose sleep is prevented by nightmares sent to her by evil Goblins from Cloudland, to which under the protection of Good Fairies and a benevolent uncle she is taken - another Alice in Wonderland - to find out what goes wrong with her 'Dream Jewel'. After many strange and picturesque adventures her jewel is recovered from the Evil Spirits Meatsupper and Lobster Nightcap, sweet sleep returns to her, and all is well. Except for excessive length in some of the well-written speeches and songs no fault is to be found with the pretty little piece, which is accordingly Recommended for License. Ernest A. Bendall.
