Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a number of unconnected scenes with the leading comedian, called Tubby, prominent in most of them. There is (1) a scene outside Ciro's with the funny man chaffing; (2) a scene in the 'coal controller's office': (3) a 'showman scene' with a song of Punch and Judy; (4) a 'cannibal scene' in which a man made up as a savage pretends to be going to eat another man until he turns out to be an ordinary cockney; (5) a scene about a lost dog; (6) a studio scene, which consists of songs, and (7) a 'ship scene' with the comedian as a comic sailor. It is a harmless entertainment so far as the script shows, with nothing to be cut out. One song has still to come. Recommended for Licence. G. S. Street. Three songs have come in, forming an 'act' for the comedians. They are harmless and rather good. G. S. S.
