Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A short sketchy revue without any particular plot but with opportunities, in scenes ranging from an English village, to Jerusalem and thence to the cafe royal, for the introduction of various popular songs and topical allusions. Amongst the latter is the notorious 'black book' with its 47,000 names, which figures in the story of a couple of rogue's efforts to buy it: and a more familiar joke concerns a skittish wife whose husband gives her a brooch [sic] which rings a bell whenever she is kissed. There is no offence in the incoherent nonsense, and indeed there is very little point of any kind. Recommended for licence. Ernest A. Bendall.
