Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A naval lieutenant is left £50,000 on condition of marrying an unknown lady. There follow various complications; 1) he makes his servant personate him in an interview with her 2) his friend does the same thing, 3) his friend's fiancé personates the lady 4) the lady makes her servant personate her, and so it goes on until of course it appears that the lieutenant and the lady loved one another all the time. It is rather vulgar rubbish, with a good deal of sitting on knees in it, but essentially harmless. The songs must be sent if new. Recommended for licence. G. S. Street. June 9th, the songs are stated to be published. GSS.
