Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a very ambitious effort. It is in effect a morality or mystery play, poetical in form (although not in blank verse) and interspersed with lyrics. [...] I do not know if there is any precedent for a leper on the stage. He is a necessary character and I suppose must be allowed. But I do not think he should be made disgusting, i.e. with stumps for hands (p.35) and some direction as to this effect might well accompany the licence. Recommended for Licence. G. S. Street
