Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is an extremely naive and childish play. Stephen Marshall is impossibly henpecked by his wife Joan and her aunt Lucretia, and submits for the sake of peace. His brother Marmaduke arrives from Australia and incites him to revolt. Lucretia counters by making Stephen jealous of Marmaduke and the latter goes off in disgust. However, fifteen years later Stephen and his women-kind are found living in amity, with Stephen as 'master', and on Marmaduke's return he is welcomed as the cause of this happy alteration. There is neither merit nor harm in it. Recommended for Licence. G. S. Street
