Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a little farce about the difficulty of getting various eatables. The scene is a grocery store and several people are served with ridiculous things at a ridiculous cost. The point is chiefly that nothing is what it pretends to be. Finally a ‘camouflaged soldier’ enters - a soldier made up as a vegetable garden (p16). I think this is too farcical to excite any annoyance as being derogatory to the uniform, but I mention it as it might possibly be thought so. A large part is played by a baby, always screaming etc., in a perambulator. I presume this is done by some mechanical contrivance. The piece seems to be harmless, if rather dreary nonsense.
