Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A rendering of the familiar fairy-tale on the old-fashioned conventional lines of cockney fun, without any attempt at graceful elaboration of fancy. To the rather sordid humours of the widow Twankey are added those of a couple of comic Chinese policemen, with a great deal of cross-talk and knockabout business. The one novel episode introduces old Bill and Bert and Alf in ‘Bairnsfatherland’ with some good-humoured chaff of the author of their being and his tendency to caricature his military types. There is no offence in any of the rather commonplace fun, which may be safely recommended for license. Ernest. A. Bendall
