Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A student of Dickens goes to sleep at the ‘marqui o’ granby’ and dreams of his subject. The chief Characters in Pickwick come on and later a few from other books, David Copperfield, Fagin, Micawber etc. They vary allusion to the past with topical references, dance and make speeches. There is a solitary instance of dubious taste (in my opinion) in making Sarah Gamp and Betsy Prig become VAD nurses (p12) but it is not a matter for interference; no harm is meant. Otherwise the piece is pretty and pleasant. G. S. Street
