Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

I understand that this revue is to be acted by soldiers for a charity. It is concerned with the more or less humorous proceedings of private. After some soldier’s badinage in the first scene - no officers introduced - they get leave for two months. One has a fortune left him on condition that he works. The two are installed as shop men in an emporium and the usual jokes about customers are repeated. A female thief steals £40,000 and a diamond tiara and is followed by the two to Cairo, Port Said and Yokohama, where the booty is recovered after complications in which a comic Frenchman figures. Some of the dialogue is vulgar and a little of the business might possibly be made offensive, but do not think that anything of the sort is intended and there is nothing obvious to be excised. Several songs are mentioned and the words should be sent in. Recommended for license. G. S. Street. The words of the unpublished songs have come in and are inoffensive. G. S. Street
