Robinson Crusoe
Examiner of Plays' Summary:
This is a pantomimic version of Defoe’s story more original than usual, as it makes the villain, Will Atkins, employ the captain of a U-boat for the wrecking of the vessel on which Robinson, his sweetheart Polly Hopkins and his formidable mother, the dame, sail from the port of Hull upon their adventurous voyage. Cast ashore on the tropical island the dame fascinates the cannibal king, while Atkins completes his villainy by an attempt to steal the royal jewels. Robinson, by the help of his trust Friday, scores over him as he already done in the torpedo business, and all ends as happily as an innocent old fairy-tale should. Recommended for license. Ernest. A Bendall.
