Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A well-written little ‘scotch character study’. A stoker goes to see Sir William Baxton of the admiralty. He says he really wanted to see her ladyship, because he had heard of feminine influence and had an important request to make. After some well-deserved praise of the stoker calling it comes out that he had saved the lady’s life after the torpedoing of the ship she was on […] He is not on a dredger in the Clyde and his request is that she should be armed against attack. How far this is a matter of controversy I do not know, but I can see no possible harm in the stoker stating his opinion in a play. His request is of course acceded to and he is asked to tea.
