Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

Mainly a duologue between a man and a woman. The scene is a fancy-dress ball at a lunatic asylum. The man is dressed as Napoleon, the woman in a First Empire gown. Until the very end the audience is led to suppose that they are visitors but each supposes the other to be a patient, to be humoured accordingly. They talk in character, with mild jokes, and at the end of the conversation tell each other they are only visitors. Then an attendant come and marches them off to bed. I think this conclusion a pity, as real lunacy is not a proper subject for jesting. Recommended for Licence. G. S. Street
