Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A domestic sketch, well-drawn but rather grey in colouring, of the different effects upon an old soldier and his wife which are produced by their common anxiety over their son, now fighting in France. The father seeks consolation from the bottle; the mother in her satirical efforts to argue him out of his weakness. Finally news comes that the boy is wounded, where upon the other bustles away to write him a letter and the father to ‘drink his health’ recommended for license. Ernest A. Bendall.
