Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a genial little study of the characteristics and talk of a cockney flower-girl who, in spite of all her troubles including the report that her soldier-husband is ‘missing’ at the front, resolutely acts up to her motto ‘smile, if yer bust!’. This optimistic rule of life she enforces in a series of sparring duologues with an apostle of gloom, a pacifist, a war-knut, a war-bridge and apostle of gloom; and she is ultimate rewarded for her cheery confidence by the re-appearance of her ‘missing’ spouse, safe and sound. Capital sketch for a racy comedienne. Recommended for license Ernest A. Bendall.
