Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A spirited and pretty little legend of the Russia of 1812. The scene is Moscow during its attack by Napoleon, whose spies are defeating the plans of Alexander I. The Emperor's secret despatch ordering the burning of the city to the confusion of the French, is in danger of being stolen from the officer to whom it has been entrusted, after he has been drugged by a spy. In the nick of time, however, the officer's devoted lady love, disguised as a soldier, makes her appearance, rescues the despatch, conveys it to the proper authority, and is rewarded by the Emperor with his permission to marry her lover whose honour she has saved while risking her life 'for Russia' Recommended for license. Ernest A. Bendall.
