Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This, described as 'Ray's new act', consists of dialogue and business for the 'comedians', one of whom is 'Ray', and evidently a very small person, as he is concealed in a Kit bag. The other one comes on as a tramp, carrying the bag. He finds a diamond garter, but when he is going to pick it up Ray shouts 'Hi!'. Ray then comes out of the bag and the two indulge in back chat, chiefly about the garter and who ought to have it, and end with a dance. There is nothing 'suggestive' in the dialogue, but it is the reverse of refined, e.g. The passage about the tramp's smelling unpleasantly, on page 2. I do not think, however, that that sort of 'hobnailed mirth' need be interfered with. Recommended for Licence. G. S. Street
