Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is the usual pantomime of big London Theatres in which the story is inclined to be submerged in modern comic business. Thus, in addition to the inevitable broker’s men, the Baroness enters as a washerwoman, and the page has a long scene of photographing. Some of all this comic relief, especially in the traditional quarrelling scenes of the ugly sisters, is of course, more or less vulgar, but there is no nastiness or suggestiveness, and every now and again there is a passable joke. For the rest we have the usual characters and incidents which is hardly necessary to describe. The songs appear to be all given. Recommended for licence G. S. Street. Ps The last scene in dumb show is “Cinderella’s wedding” with a procession of guests etc. I take it for granted that it is not a church scene, at any rate an interior, it might be worthwhile to enquire.
