Patsy in Willow-Pat Land (A Willow-pattern play in Three Nights)
Examiner of Plays' Summary:
As the title indicates, this is a children's play in a Chinese setting. Patsy is put to sleep by Mother and Nurse, after saying goodnight to the Pekinese and watching the little chinese men in the willow-pattern curtain ad is then taken by Pym and the Pixies to Willow-Pat land, where the previous suggestions are ingeniously developed into a fantastic dream. Rabbit has invented a Blue Moon, whom Pym loves and who is carried off by the Dragon. The Dragon also carries off Patsy; she is rescued but Blue Moon remains behind the waterfall at the Buddha-handed Princess's tomb. Other villains of the piece are the Philosopher, the Poet and the Grave Digger. They are tried with Rabbit for Judge - the wig has been suggested in the mortal part - and condemned. Finally the Dragon is made to give up Blue Moon, who illuminates the scene. It is a sort of parable of the New Moon, I suppose, but the meaning does not matter much. The chief interest will be the Chinese scenery and stage effects. The songs are given. Recommended for Licence G. S. Street.
