Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

The stage directions are absent from this Pantomime, but all the dialogue is apparently here, and it is possible to make out the story which is to the effect that Sinbad and Hindbad, with Mrs Sinbad his mother (the chief comic character) and his love Sadie, all go to sea; the ship is wrecked and the various characters come ashore; Sinbad and Hinba go to the Diamond Valley where the Old Man gets on Sinbad's back and dies after being given brandy, and they return enriched. Apparently the other characters get home by a different route. It is simple and old fashioned with no harm in the dialogue. The comic business of Mrs Sinbad going to sea disguised as a sailor might possibly not be decorous but there is no suggestion of anything offensive in the script. Some songs are given and are harmless, and I think the published ones used might be taken on trust. Recommended for Licence G. S. Street
