Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

An extremely imbecile melodrama in skeleton form. It is so stupidly and clumsily written that it is rather difficult to make out what is supposed to happen, but one gathers that the villain has 'betrayed' the heroine but subsequently wishes to marry her as she is discovered to be an heiress; that meanwhile the hero has married her, but that the villain with the help of a second villain and the villainess 'trick' her by the means of a comic servant pretending to be a friend of her father's, and propose to compromise her; that the hero comes on with the police and has them arrested for forgery and claims his wife. The absurd villain is supposed to be an officer in the army that I suppose can hardly be stopped, and of course the play is immeasurably insignificant. If plays could be banned of being lunatic bosh this would be, but since that is not the case it is Recommended for license. G. S. Street.
