Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A pretty story of fairies and mortals. The Minstrel, afflicted with a curse of forgetfulness laid on him by a jealous fairy and ignorant of his high lineage, loves Lady Janet, the Duke's daughter, who the Duke desires to marry Sir Marmaduke, a fop. The fairies are to be turned out of their haunt unless a mortal soul is sacrificed for seven years to the Spirit of the Cave. The Minstrel is trapped into plucking the magic rose which seals his fate. He can be redeemed, however, by the love of a maid, and is beguiled into taking his place. Robin Goodfellow is the principle figure of the play, tormenting evil-doers with bad dreams and so on. G. S. Street.
