Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a musical farce, or revue, with a plot hinging on the search for a treasure-island. The discoverer of this island-now dead-left as its only trace a chart, half of which was tattooed upon the back of a girl between her shoulder blades and the other half on the back of the cabin-boy, his son. Under the guidance of a comic detective all the dramatic personae sail away to the Southern Seas to find the Island, which they do by accidental discovery that the heroine, who with her lover is included in the party, has the requisite map on herĀ  shoulder. Her reward is to become Queen of the Islands where she gives a reception to mark her accession. Providing that there is no indelicacy in the final display of the tattooed shoulder, nor in the attire of the oriental girls brought on in the island-scene, the conventional fun appears harmless: and the numerous ditties seem to be all published ones.
