Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

The mysticism of Tagore's poetry is evident in this short tragedy and discussion of its possible meanings and interpretations would be out of place in an official report. [...] Conceivably in India this play might give offence to Brahmins, but it is on so entirely a poetic and philosophical plan that I should think that very unlikely. I am quite sure that few if any of Sir W. Lever's guests will have any idea of its inner meaning, and that even if an Indian were present he would simply take it as a piece of poetry.
