Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a revised and considerably altered version of the revue of the same name which enjoyed so prolonged a London success. It preserved the original thread of plot which accounts for the assembling of the possible heirs to a huge fortune which, when the lawyer reads the will, turns out to be left to the relation who has never been in love. For a time the ingénue heroine seems likely to come into the property; but her bona-fide claim is disputed by a hero whose ignorance of love is an impudent if aimiable effort of imagination. The difficulty is finally settled by the finding of a subsequent will dividing the legacy between these rival claimants. As before the story is designed as a series of pegs on which to hang a number of dances, fox-trots and the like, as well as some more or less topical ditties. Some of these are old; and many are new; but all of them like the fresh episodes introduced, are void of offence. Particulars, however, of the business contemplated in one or two scenes simply described as 'without dialogue' should be forwarded for approval. Recommended for Licence. Ernest A. Bendall. These dumb-show scenes, as now described, are unobjectionable and are Recommended for Licence Ernest A. Bendall.
