Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a revised version of the Revue of the same name already submitted for licence. It still tells the story of a penniless hero, and a heroine betrothed by her father to an elderly pseudo-Count. The young man departs on an expedition to a South Sea Island, in search of hidden treasure, and finds himself forestalled in the quest by his rival whom however, has to disgorge on the strength of a scrap of paper proving the treasure to have been the property of the hero's dead father. In this new edition the vulgar speeches objected to have been omitted; but a caution still seems necessary with regard to the 'scanty attire' prescribed (p.30) for the girls on the Island. Recommended for Licence. Ernest A. Bendall.
