Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

This is a musical play, defined as a "revue", presumably because it has practically no plot and is made up of nonsense dialogue and burlesque "business" for the introduction of ditties and dances. The opening scene is laid at a Police-station run by girls, who in order to attend a tempting sale decide to give the burglars whom they have in custody a day's holiday, so that they may close the place, and leave it in charge of a couple of male loafers. These latter soon find themselves mixed up in a couple of charges, one of jewel robbery, and the other of murder. Both prove to be bogus ones, and the investigation into each is conducted like a nursery game played without rules. The whole thing is utter rubbish, though otherwise void of offence; but the words of the songs to be introduced must be forwarded for approval. Rec for License. Ernest A. Bendall. Songs stated to be published and unobjectionable.
