Great War Theatre

Examiner of Plays' Summary:

A sentimental pretty little sketch of war-time in a humble quarter of Paris, where, in their poverty a couple of well-born girls find opportunity for cheering and helping an unknown 'filleul' or godson, whom they have adopted as their protégé at the front. One day the girls have a call from a wealthy lady to whom they tell of their gifts and letter to their adopted soldier; who, it seems, was first known to them through his writing to tell them the news and details of the death of his comrade, their brother. In reply their visitor announces herself as the mother of the 'filleul' to whom they have been so kind, and introduces her son, home on leave, to thank them in person for their goodness, and provide them with a more comfortable home. A pleasant little play of the moment, well-fitted to command the sympathy of a French audience. Recommended for license. Ernest A. Bendall
