Great War Theatre

‘I do not know a more versatile man than Mr. Ernest Schofield. His adaptability is really wonderful; editor of a paper, author, organiser of exhibitions, secretary of associations, director of companies, producer of films, and many other achievements are his. He is equally versatile in his hobbies; an expert motorist, a keen golfer, a successful farmer, a capable reciter, pianist and singer, he is certainly an entertaining companion. He has now broken out in a fresh place and I see that “The Joker” - a new farce - comes from his pen, in collaboration with Mr. J. Ramsay. We shall all want seats at the New Theatre to congratulate our friend on his latest departure. The play is to be produced on Saturday evening’. Kinematograph Weekly, 15 April 1915.
