Chester Bailey Fernald, American author was born on March 18, 1869 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the Washington correspondent for the San Francisco Chronicle between 1893-1894. He came to London and stayed. His son, Van Dyke, took British citizenship to join the British army and was killed in the War. Chester died on 10 April 1938 when he was knocked from his yacht and drowned in Dover harbour.
