Horace Annesley Vachell
Horace Annesley Vachell was a playwright, novelist and writer of essays and autobiographies. He was born in Sydenham Kent on 30 October 1861, was educated at Harrow and Sandhurst and spent a short time in the Rifle Brigade before moving to California for seventeen years. Vachell wrote 22 plays, a number of which went on to be adapted for radio and, later, television. Vachell died on 10 January 1955 in Somerset.
