Ernest George Cove was born in Devon on 29 April 1879. He married Jessie McIntyre in 1913. An advertisement in The Stage, 19 June 1919, for the production of ‘Those Who Wait’ at the Empire, Tonypandy, in which Cove acted, described him as a ‘well-known actor-author’; as having performed at the Comedy and Vaudeville Theatres, London; as having been a member of the ‘Little Miss Llewellyn’ company; and as the author also of ‘The Deacon’s Mistake’. The 1939 Register shows Ernest G Cove, an organising secretary, and Jessie Cove, a qualified nurse, and both annotated ‘A.R.P.’, living at 48 Crawford St, St Marylebone. The National Probate Calendar shows that Ernest George Cove died on 28 May 1950 and that his widow Jessie Cove died on 25 January 1951.
