Arthur Jefferson
There is a biography of Jefferson by Danny Lawrence: 'Arthur Jefferson: Man of the Theatre and Father of Stan Laurel' (Brewin Books, Studley, Warwickshire, 2017). Jefferson managed the Metropole Theatre, Glasgow from 1901 to 1922. His death on 15 January 1949 was noted in his local newspaper, the Grantham Journal, on 21 January 1949. He was the father, not only of Stan Laurel, but of G. Gordon Jefferson whose play 'Carry On' is in this database.
