Ida Alexa Ross Wylie, novelist and short story writer, was born on 16 March 1885 in Melbourne, Australia. Her family moved back to the UK in 1888. Wylie later settled in the USA, where over thirty films were based on her novels and short stories. She died on 4 November 1959 in New Jersey, USA.
